Climate City Contract is the agreement that involves cities in a commitment to the climate. Each entity can define a tailor-made strategic plan to enable reaching climate neutrality by 2030.
Ard Raccanello has decided to sign the Climate City Contract agreement and therefore to undertake this important and challenging path, in compliance with its vision and the values that support it: operating in the territory for its protection and safeguard and for the care of the urban community.
So, new and precious motivation awaits us! The work of all the participants in the project for the city is aimed at achieving the recognition "Padova Carbon Neutral and Smart City".
What does it mean for “climate neutrality”?
The idea is to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions so that they are equal to (or lower than) those eliminated through the natural absorption of the planet. Indeed, to obtain zero emissions.
So the European Union is aiming to reduce climate-altering emissions from European cities which, despite occupying little land surface of the EU (4%), consume over 65% of energy and emit over 70% of CO2. In fact, they host the largest concentration of citizens (75%).
By 2030, they want to make 100 cities defined as 'smart cities' climate neutral, including ours, Padua!"
